Hello Jason,
I've no idea about your particular car but I know that if one or more of
the 6 diodes in the alternator goes short circuit then it can still
charge the battery but place a load on the battery when the engine is
stopped. Perhaps you could disconnect the thick wire at the alternator
one night to check, there may not be a separate fuse to remove.
Beware of running your engine with the battery disconnected because this
can damage the alternator on some cars.
