Pogoplug is cheap. I see they are going for $30 today at buy.com. I haven't used the current models, but I have installed ArchLinux and run owfs on a Seagate Dockstar, which is basically the same as the older Pogoplug models. The ArchLinux website has instructions for installing ArchLinux on both old and new Pogoplug models.
