I should point out that the raspbian package installs in different locations (/usr/bin/ instead of /opt/owfs/bin/) than if you build it from source. It makes upgrading from the package to a compiled version not completely straight forward. Not sure why, but it would be nice if they installed in the same locations. Bruce (I just moved to a RPI running Raspbian with an USB master after my nslu2 slug's hard drive crashed last week. A new hard drive costs more than another RPI with a SD card, etc. I had it running in a just a few hours, including temploggerd)

I have read many posts here about the Raspberry pi but none saying this simple thing: Raspberry pi + Raspbian + owfs run directly "out of the box": sudo apt-get install owfs # to install it then edit /etc/owfs.conf to your needs. That's all, it works! The owfs package contains the version 2.8p15 I use owfs from 5 years now and I'm planning to move my home 1wire network which is driving my central heating, on the Raspberry pi. Just the script /etc/init.d/owfs is missing only owserver, owhttpd, owftpd are included and these 3 services started at boot. But it's easy to build this script by copying one of these 3. Now when I boot the 4 services are started. Again thanks Paul and all the community for this fantastic software. -- Guy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LogMeIn Central: Instant, anywhere, Remote PC access and management.
