I personally like being apart of the KDE community, but do see that it can cause confusion for potential users or even developers. Even if we were to break off from the KDE community I don't believe we would see an increase in developers, just possibly more patches. When discussing this at the Desktop Summit please be aware that KDE does bring in people through Google Summer of Code. I'm planning on sticking around, but would like to apply next year for ownCloud again.
