I find myself actually watching a fair bit of YouTube content on the couch now and just surfing searches from my phone and punting the content to the TV via ChromeCast. One thing that did occur to me is that YouTube does a really crappy job of content curation. It is hard to go from something you watched that you liked to something else similar ranked by quality (and there is a lot of complete crap on The YouTube). There would be good money in a startup that does something a lot smarter than The Google (big ask) around curated YouTube content.
