It is not uncommon for BF babies to go up to two weeks between bowel actions. The babies behaviour sound like what my babies did as the were always unsettled for the 48 hours before they went than they were at other times. As to why this has happened now I would suggest that the baby is probably taking less milk due to the solids intake. I would suggest backing off the solids again to see if it resolves and the start again reintroducing one thing at a time slowly to see if mum can tell what the babies tolerance is
Hop this helps

Dear List

Does anyone have any ideas why a perfectly healthy 6+ month old baby (fully breastfed - still is) is suddenly getting badly constipated? Since birth she has regularly gone 48-72 hours between full nappies with no concern from her or Mum; starting solids slowly - pureed fruit and veges and chewing on Sao's with sore gums. Went 8 days (bit of a drama by day 6 - very unhappy baby) and was shockingly distressed by day 8. Used water, infant coloxyl, massage etc

We are now heading into day 4 - starting to get a bit restless (the baby) again.
