Hi Barbara I know all the registered midwives who attend homebirths. I'm after ANY information about planned homebirths where NO REGISTERED MIDWIFE WAS PRESENT.
ASIM would really like lots of these consumers to tell the Department of Health that they were forced into this situation of an unattended homebirth simply because there was NO MIDWIFE CHOICE available to them. Supplying this type of information should help us get homebirths funded. It is hoped that funding the homebirths would increase the demand and also encourage more registered midwives to move into the homebirth practice arena. We hope that an increased demand for homebirths would force the government to recommend community midwifery programs be set up in all area health services. Community Midwifery Programs would provide consumers with a choice of birth venue.
