We are also currently in the process of having caseload midwives in our
unit. Using the same type of philosophy however having a fulltime midwife
looking after 4 women per month or 40 per year, and back for the same again.
This would allow you to have time off for social events by asking your
backup midwife to look after your women should they need you during these
times. We are also asking for a base rate plus 30% as we found that 25%
does not cover penalties lost etc. I hope that some baths will also be on
the agenda for your birthing rooms ;)
