I work in the same environment that Sally
does. Another problem is that some G/P’s who have this wonderful
authority to order Path tests, don’t order the right ones and during
pregnancy or on transfer, I find I don’t have the base measurements. Eg ferritin,.
The enhanced role of the midwife course hopefully will go some way to ensuring
midwives in government employ can order the basic tests & access birth
related drugs. This applies to the Homebirth program (CMP) but not
independent practice. Maybe this will change in the future? Cheers, MM
