Hi Michelle, I did my initial education and revision for 10 yr recertification with Maureen Minchin (in person). I found that I could remember things from her method of teaching.  I also attended breastfeeding conferences whenever I could, particularly ALCA conferences.  I studied and studied "Breastfeeding and Human Lactation" which is my most used reference book when I want to check on something. I don't know why people aren't recertifying at 5 yrs - could be the cost and time to go to conferences.
