Problem is the blob cache doesn't appear to store doucments from document
libraries...or perhaps just those that fit the path criteria in web.config. Is
this what it was designed to do? Is it advisable to add other common file
extensions?

I would have though trying to cache documents (which change often) would be
problmetic in itself.

It should be identical at least for the document you're opening. If one WFE
shows 1KB in size for that particular document and another WFE shows 2KB it
means that if someone points on that document on first WFE, he will get old
version.

One shows 38 file, 22 folders and the other 26 files, 27 folders. No documents
as such, just some site images.

Should they be identical or is it enough that it's enabled on both?

Check the web.config on this line:

<BlobCache location="C:\blobCache" path="\.(gif|jpg|png|css|js)$" maxSize="10"
enabled="false" />

Hi Tommy,

How do I check if BLOB cache is enabled at the WFE level?

I think I've ever had the same problem few months ago. The problem is with the
BLOB cache directory not synched between 2 WFEs. Please check whether BLOB
cache is enabled or not on your WFEs.

If it is, the easiest way to check is to point explicitly to each WFE through
editing the HOSTS file then find which WFE that doesn't work. Then go to the
BLOB cache directory and copy one file (that's related to the file you're
opening) from the working WFE to non-working one and see the effect.

Cheers,
Tommy

Hi Chris,

We're still having this problem with some users. Do you have multiple WFEs?

First thought that it was a caching issue on certain systems but I think it's
actually related to the "Config refresh" timer which is supposed to synch
content and update changes across the application servers.

Check your Event logs on the SQL box to see if there are any refused
connections from a particular WFE.

Hi guys,
Has anyone seen this.

1. User opens excel/word document
2. Clicks Check Out
3. Works on document from SharePoint Drafts (have checked file manually and
contains updates.)
4. Saves / Closes Document and Checks In using the word interface.

The new version of the document is now without changes.

If I do the same on a similar machine no issues, if I replace step 4 on her
machine with using the web interface to check in as part of the document
library, it works as expected, seems to be a office problem but wouldn't know
where to start.
