Are you logged onto your machine and sharepoint with the same user account? I believe that Explorer View (webdav) uses the user account that you are logged onto your machine with to determine what permissions to give you instead of using the user that you are logged onto SharePoint with.

From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Nigel Hertz Sent: Monday, 1 June 2009 1:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: 'Explorer view' and office documents Sorry, should have been more clear J I right-clicked on my desktop and went 'new' 'ms word doc' (and excel sheet). I then edited them and put the characters '123' into both. I uploaded both documents using the standard sharepoint file upload, as well as dragging them into explorer view - both without problems. I can right-click on the documents in the standard view and 'save target as' without problems. The problem only crops up when opening 'explorer view' and trying to drag them to my desktop (or some other location) From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Brian Farnhill Sent: Monday, 1 June 2009 1:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: 'Explorer view' and office documents When you say 'blank', are you talking about something that was created from a "right click > New word document" type of thing? From memory you need to put some content in there (otherwise I'm pretty sure the file size will be 0Kb and as such won't have anything to upload). Have you tried putting the same documents into the document library through the regular upload? This should let you know if it's explorer view or SP itself that has the problem. Kind regards, Chris From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Nigel Hertz Sent: Friday, 29 May 2009 10:46 AM To: [email protected] Subject: 'Explorer view' and office documents Hey all I've come across a strange - and recent - issue with explorer view and office document. Since sometime last week, we cannot copy and paste office documents from the explorer view in a document library. This was definitely working last week, as I needed to back up some files to disk for an external client. The error message we receive is "Cannot copy [file]: The parameter is incorrect." This happens when trying to copy ANY word, excel or powerpoint file from any document library within our production environment. It does, however, work fine from test or dev. It only works from production if we access it via Citrix. PDF files copy fine, as to MS Project files. I've checked all the usual suspects - path length, invalid characters, permissions (both local and on the server) as well as the unusual suspect of office-compatible saved (whereby you can't upload files that are created in OpenOffice and saved as MS Word compatible) I'm at a complete loss as to what is causing this, and am hoping someone out there might have an idea.
