Barry,

I think you're overestimating Adobe's foresight here. It's clear Adobe have no
love for Microsoft at all, and given this they'll push harder for folks to
adopt a Mac/Linux focused solution, and due to this, they'll optimise more so
in this direction. They furthermore need to highlight there is an exodus on
both Mac/Linux into justifying their "Open Screen Project" has merit.

The reality? Windows still has majority market share, and we're not seeing
movement away from this so far with Adobe AIR like solutions. Some .NET
customers have tried and it brushed it aside for a whole host of reasons,
namely they themselves have outlined that Linux/Mac market isn't as large as
they first thought or lead to believe. Given the economy today, they're more
inclined to bet on the majority first and focus on the minority second, once
they retain some ROI.

Reality vs. Perception arguments apply here.

to be honest, there's no choice there. if you want reach, then that
means all that comes with it - not just web delivered, but catering
for everybody - mobile clients included.

It's a fact that my boss is slow to understand. He's hoping to
leverage our DynamicsCRM system on to our customers. you can't dictate
platforms to customers. it really annoys me when my bank tries it on
me, esp when it's unnecessary.

I put it to you though, that if Adobe has found value in pushing both
Flex (Flash player and FlexBuilder IDE) and AIR onto the Linux
platform, then there's value to be had...
