You should be able to hit F5 in VS, refresh Snoop, and find your app in
the drop down list.
Remember to refresh Snoop every time you re-run the app. Even if the
name of your app window is in the list, it may be an old handle.
Carl.

Ha! nice. I had forgotten that shortcut (its same one as Silverlight Spy
so should have tried that). I can browse the NavigationWindow now.
Also I've now got it working on the 64bit version of snoop. It only
works for me when I run it from the Debug folder, It can't see it if I
run it via F5 from Visual Studio. (I thought that worked?). That's good
enough for me, means I don't have to mess about with changing the build
target - can leave it as AnyCPU.
thanks again, I'm off and racing now.
cheers,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
If you hold Ctrl+Shift and mouse over the window, doesn't it appear in
the tree?

Hmm... Have downloaded the latest binaries from codeplex (thanks for the
link!) but strangely its still not finding my Wpf app when its running.
I've tried both the 64bit and 32bit versions.
Ah, here we go. I changed the app to build as x86 and ran that version
and the 32bit snoop can see it now. It only seems to be able to show me
the main app window (I've got a window opening from in the app and can't
seem to find how to browse to that one yet...)
Not perfect but at least its semi functional now... just need to work
out how to get the NavigationWindow i'm opening to show up...
thanks guys,
Stephen

+1. The older version doesn't work for Any CPU/64 bit applications -
you'll have to change the target platform to x86 for it to pick it up.

Snoop has recently undergone a few revisions and lives on CodePlex:

If you're using the newer versions you may have to refresh the window
(or check the checkbox to make it autorefresh like older versions did).
I use it almost daily.

Subject: Snoop
Hey all,
A few years ago I used Snoop a lot. Have been working in the Silverlight
space for a while and now I'm back working part time on a WPF project.
I've installed Snoop and am puzzled by a couple of things... 1) It' not
working - my Wpf app doesn't show up in the drop down. 2) Doesn't seem
to be being updated.
Are people still using this tool? Maybe its because i'm on a 64bit
machine now that its not working for me? I bought Silverlight Spy which
is awesome so perhaps I've been spoilt. Is there an equivalent in the
WPF world that I've missed? I have used Mole in the past too, but
haven't looked at that to see if it's been updated or not. It's similar
but not quite the same. (ie have to be running debugger for that, and
find a good spot to set a breakpoint to see whats going on).
cheers,
Stephen
