I'm not saying that parallel downloading is a bad idea, I'm just saying that
BitTorrent is a poor design for parallel downloading.  I think parallel
downloading is fantastic feature for a whole lot of reasons, and I think
every web browser should do it.  They just shouldn't do it with BitTorrent.


Having  a separate manner of dealing with large files, without a user having
to worry too much about putting that file in the proper place in a web
server directory, makes it all the more worthwhile??


Hmnn...I agree parallel downloading is great for large files, and I'm all
for it!  BitTorrent makes the process of where to put files far more
cumbersome than should be necessary, though.  There's really no reason to
create "torrents" apart from plain old files.  All you need is a hash of the
file and a service for looking up duplicates.  This is again an issue of
protocol layering.
