Dear all,
We have just released an updated version of Vishwa distributed computing
middleware which is freely available for download and use (available at
http://dos.iitm.ac.in/vishwanew/ ). It is a lightweight middleware making it
easy for executing tasks in parallel across multiple machines in a
cloud/grid/cluster. The middleware can be set up by simply downloading two
jar files and the only dependency being the availability of Java runtime
environment. Basic programming knowledge in Java is the only pre-condition
for the user.

The basic tutorials for setting up and writing your first Vishwa program are
available at http://dos.iitm.ac.in/vishwanew/?page_id=99 and
http://dos.iitm.ac.in/vishwanew/?page_id=31 . We believe that it could be a
valuable tool, both for educational purposes in universities and distributed
processing requirements. Vishwa is a peer-to-peer node-capability aware and
fault-tolerant grid. More details are available in the research publications
(http://dos.iitm.ac.in/vishwanew/?page_id=141).

A public mailing list ( http://groups.google.com/group/vishwausers/ ) is set
up for discussing doubts, suggestions etc.

Currently, Vishwa supports fully parallel tasks. Support for connected
computations will be added soon. Vishwa is developed at DOS lab, Dept. of
CSE, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras ( http://dos.iitm.ac.in ).

Sincerely,
Harisankar H,
PhD student,
