Hello all,
I am trying to implement Packetfence into our network for the first time. If
anybody has deployed Packetfence with HP switches, I would like to talk to you.
I am having some issues with port security and receiving dhcp addresses once
the trap is sent . In my lab I set the port security to static and put a bogus
mac address in so that when a new device is plugged in, it sends a trap and
moves the device from production to registration Vlan. That works fine. I have
the port security to send only a trap and not to disable. All this work in the
lab. Now that I am trying to set this up in production, I have this issue. The
problem is that I am not getting a IP address once the trap is sent. I have
verified the vlans are all working and able to communicate to packetfence on
different vlans. I can receive a dhcp address on the registration vlan from
packet fence if I start out in that vlan. I cannot receive a dhcp address if it
moves from production to registration.
My thought is the switch is locking down the port and not allowing dhcp when
the trap is sent. I am currently talking to HP support, but with little help.
This might be beyond their knowledge it feels like.
And lastly,
The HP switch firmware was about 4 years out of date and I updated their
firmware. This could be the issues since all this worked in the lab with the
old firmware.
Thanks for any help in this matter.
