It was not a stupid question. But the answer is no. I have also let this
project stall as we all know, there is always something more important to do.
The MAC address begins with 00:00:83 (Tadpole Technologies)
I went through the process again today and now have all of the steps.
I have unregistered all devices.
Restart machine. MAC Address 00:0c:29
Register
Packetfence registers 00:00:83
Reboot machine to make sure
Open Browser, required to register again
Go to Packetfence Admin Site:
00:00:83 is registered
00:0c:29 is not
Register 00:0c:29 on Admin Site
Go to Machine, able to access web.
This is a complete inline installation for one VLAN

authorized. It will then fail as it does not find an authorized MAC address in
the system. If I refresh the browser, it will then display a different MAC

the machine's real MAC, and now had added this ghost MAC address which is not
authorized. If I manually authorized this ghost address, the device will go
right on through l you would suspect.
Stupid question - does the ghost MAC address start with 00:50:56
(VMware OUI)? If so, your second connection is coming via NAT,
because the inline client is now live and has no reason to refresh
the registration page. Try going to an Internet URL without the
ghost MAC registered and see if it works...
