Looks like the same issue I have with pf pf5.6 & 5.7 on, Debian 7.
I suspect it is related to dhcpd and not to pf.
Please note that it appears only when there is a lot of omapi resolution : we
could not reproduce the bug on our testing installation, only the production
one.
I would be curious to know if the this issue still appears on Debian 8 (with
isc-dhcpd-4.3), as s ymptoms are the same than this old issue fixed in
isc-dhcpd 4.2.1:
- Disable the use of kqueue in the ISC library. This avoids a problem
between the fork and socket code that caused the dhcpd process to
use all available cpu if the program daemonized itself.
