>> Generally speaking, CE based devices have more memory
Measured in absolute terms, CE devices do have more memory, but it can be
argued that Palm devices have more *usable* memory. In other words, the Win
CE OS and applications are bloated and require more memory than the Palm.
>> [Win CE has] better screen display
Okay, you get no argument from me.
>>they don't cost more that Palms
Actually they did, prior to the Palm V.
Why is Palm successful? The Palm devices do not try to be all things to all
people. They are, however, exceedingly good at what they do. And it
actually fits in your shirt pocket!

Subject: RE: Palm vs CE
I enjoy this CE-PalmOS discussion, too.
I'm relatively new to the Palm world, actually, I've never seen a Palm until
Jan this year.
After I started working on this project, I began to pay attention to those
little things
in stores and on newpaper ads. Generally speaking, CE based devices have
more memory
and better screen display, and they don't cost more that Palms, yet the Palm
seems
out sold them all. There must be some reason that I don't know that make
Palm so
successful, other than those you guys have mentioned, such as battery life,
marketing
strategy, etc. Can somebody give me a little history lesson about Palm?
