You can't use MS VC++ for PalmPilot development.  I've been using
CodeWarrior under WinNT4.0 under Windows.   It is commercial (and not
cheap), but well worth the investment.  Older versions had problems, but the
latest version 5.1 is very good.  It has an IDE, GUI builder, graphical
debugger, and it works directly with the Windows PalmPilot emulator.  I
think that MetroWerks also gives 1 or 2 free upgrades when you purchase CW.
