i got an idea, extract the handhelds permenant serial number and have your
program check for it (after custom building it and sending it to them). BUT
i just thought,.. then it would be possible for the hacker to write a hack
to intercept the call???

LOL!! When was the last time you saw a readme.txt (or other similar
documentation) for an app that stated such a thing?
No, the big problem as I see it is that you don't find out that an app
leaves garbage behind until AFTER you've installed and then deleted it.
Of course, word does get around, and an ill-behaved or rude app will
acquire a reputation.
