FWIW, IE does replace a bunch of system files <shudder>, it also
installs a bunch of common libraries - but it stores user preferences in
the registry, under 'current user'. This is nice in that different
logged on users can have different preferences.
On the other hand CW6 for PalmOS has sooooo many problems, I think that
intelligent preference management is the least of Metrowerks worries...
Here is a really nice one for CW6: Under the edit menu, select "Version
Control Settings". Turn the "Use Version Control" checkbox on, Turn the
"Use Version Control" checkbox off, close the dialog box with the little
x in the upper right corner. Look! All menu items are disabled in all
menus! Don't panic and terminate! Just bring another app to the front
and then re-top CW. Tada! You can now exit...
If you are a Windows savvy programmer, run Spy++ and watch the message
traffic during this little exercise. Warning, may cause severe
nausea...
