I thought that was one of the things fixed with the Pocket PC OS
upgrade, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's still a problem.

I still like Jeff Hawkins's original vision of the Palm as a
tentacle of the desktop. There are lots of times years ago when
I wished I could have just a few of the simplest applications from
my desktop, but not have to drag a laptop around. Like when I'm
in a restaraunt and I want to balance my books, or in the supermarket
trying to balance my checkbook, or on a public phone somewhere trying
to remember someone's phone number and I've lost the piece of paper I
wrote it on. Palm is the only PDA I've found (well, the Newton had
it's high points too, granted) that does exactly what I want, and as
much as I want. I didn't want a GameBoy, I didn't need to download
attachments on the go, I didn't want to watch movies on a 2"X2" screen.
All those features are wasted space, IMHO. I like the capabilities
of the Qualcomm PDQ and the like, too...and WinCE's features are
practically useless for the point of sale apps I've written, and our
clients have pretty much agreed on that. They don't care about color,
they want longer battery life. Heck, they don't even need grayscale.
They just want to collect, manage, and test raw data.

Well, a Palm V. =)
(actually, for personal use, I'm really interested in the new Sony
and Handspring...both have their ups and downs, but they intrigue me
the most. Even though I write the bulk of my software for the Symbol
series devices.)
