I develop games for the Palm platform, and was recently curious about how
many sites had my software posted. I regularly post to about six, but I
know others link to sites like palmgear to get titles. Anyway, I ran across
a crack site that had the registration codes for three of my titles, along
with codes and cracked versions of about 200 or so other titles.
On the one hand I guess I'm a little flattered that someone liked my titles
enough to post the registration code. On the other hand I'm pissed as hell
about this. I worked my ass off on these games, and I don't appreciate
people posting the codes for all the world to see.
Next to each title is "Regged" or "Cracked". The ones marked as "Cracked"
are a special version in which the software was modified to accept any
registration code. The ones marked "Regged" just list a registration number
to use. I suspect that on these, somebody paid for the software, then
shared the code with the owner of the site. The mistake they made is that
they posted the code to one of my titles just a few days after it was
released, and so I've narrowed it down to 6 or 7 registered users that it
could be.
My question is this - Is there anything I can do about this? The address of

The site lists http://hambo.yeah.net as an alternate address. A quick check
on networksolutions.com showed that the URL belonged to a company in China.
If any other developers find their titles on this site, and can narrow down
to culprit to just a few names, I would be intested in comparing lists to
see if there is anything in common to help determine who it is. My e-mail
