No, I would say that in that context they should be "Done" buttons, not
"Exit" buttons. Consistency of naming and purpose is extremely important in
a device that is used by many non-computer-literate people. "Exit" and
"Done" may be thought of and used interchangably by people who have been
force to adjust to the vaguaries and inconsistencies of Windows. But many
Palm users will see "Exit" and think that it means exactly what it says:
that it will take them "out" of the current application (and, consequently,
be afraid to tap it for fear of losing what they've entered or something).
"Done", on the other hand, fairly clearly conveys the idea of being finished
with the current task (form) within the application, especially since that
is the standard meaning used throughout all othe Palm apps.
Never underestimate the value of consistency. And never violate existing
standards.
That all said, my money says that Brian was indeed refering to a way to exit
from his application. Hopefully, the other responses have dispelled that
idea from his head.
