Nope, it's just an app. When launched, it determines the hardware configuration of the
device and installs the necessary components to update the OS to version 3.5.3. It
does nothing with Flash ROM. All patches exist in RAM, same as previous System Updates.
The device will need sufficient free database storage to load both the Installer
application and any driver database(s) the app may create. But once this is done, you
may delete the Installer application, or leave it on the device for beaming to other
devices, etc.
