Oh dear! It's so unusual in my experience with Linux that a new

Actually, very little time. Mageia-3-Alpha2 is the first distro that
has posed such a problem. Hitherto, it was just a quick install, it
would pick up the existing .pan directory in a flash, and it was up and
running.
