Spoke too soon!
After getting old Pan working, I then went on to do a general s/w
update, during which my old Pan was replaced by new Pan!
Yes - I had omitted to add "pan" to the /etc/urpmi/skip.list.....
But i was quickly able to purge new Pan and reinstate old Pan.
Couldn't help but chuckle (after I'd finished cursing)!
