Mike (et.al.)

I am one of those designers who releases models for a limited time at Golden
Age Superheroes in Paper. I want to assure you all that I am not doing it to
make you jump through hoops, and I apologize if it makes you feel that way.
I have chosen to do it for a couple of reasons. First: it tends to add a
sense of "perceived value" and excitement to a free item. Second: it seems
to bring people back to the site more frequently; as they want to be sure
not to miss anything. Fourth: it encourages contact from site visitors who
email me to get models they missed (which I happily provide.) As other
designers know, when you offer your work for free, it's nice to get a little
feedback once in a while, even if it's only five or ten emails per thousand
downloads. I have also made some very cool contacts with interesting people
who have emailed for a missed model or two. That might not have happened if
everything was always up for the taking.

I have emailed other designers like Rommy, and Shin Tanaka and UHU, and
politely requested models of theirs that I've missed, and I have never been
refused. So I would echo your message that people should make their requests
of the designers, not list members. Most likely, you will get the model, and
you will be helping to inspire that designer's further work. You may even
make a new online friend :)

For the record: I will happily provide any models that members of this list
might want, as I have this list to thank for so much happiness and
inspiration in this wonderful hobby.

Cheers!
