The Thunderbirds were preceded by the SkyBlazers in Europe (22nd
Fighter-Bomber-Squadron, 36th Fighter-Bomber-Wing) The 2 wingmen,
identical twins who went on to help start the Thunderbirds. They flew
F-84E's while I was attached to the squadron in 1951-52. The Patillo
twins retired as general officers, one a Lt. General, the other a Maj.
General. One, I don't remember which, was a POW during WWII. I sent
some info to the Combat Air Museum in Topeka, Kansas. They have quite
a display on the Thunderbirds, perhaps they can be of assistance to
you.
