If you're close to Western Kentucky, you have to stop in Henderson. John James Audubon State Park and Museum is a great stop for nature and art lovers. It's a beautiful place to explore on hikes and nature walks, and the museum has some fascinating information on artist John James Audubon, as well as some of his paintings and sketches.

If you've ever wanted to see horse races, Ellis Park is a must. Races only run from July 4 to September 3.

If you're here in June you can check out the W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival. It runs from June 9 to 16. All concerts are free, but you have to pay for the BBQ. There are always concession stands selling all kinds of food and drinks. They have a website where you can see the schedule and what bands are playing.

If you're here in October, the Historical Society of Henderson does a ghost tour called Haunted Henderson. It is a blast, and you learn a lot about our town's history. You can find out about times and prices on their website.

The movie "A League of Their Own" was filmed on Main Street. Several of the giant trees that lined the street were destroyed in an ice storm a couple of years ago, but it still makes for a nice drive with the old houses there. A couple of the tree stumps were carved into statues by a local artist. I can't remember his name, but he uses a chain saw to carve wood into highly detailed sculptures.

I could go on, but that gives you some highlights of what's available here. We're also a short drive from Evansville, Indiana. They have a nice museum with a planetarium, and Mesker Park Zoo - home of Donna, the oldest Hippo in captivity.

Hi all,

Well, It's been just over a year and we didn't make it to USA - BUT - guess what!? We are actually in the planning stages now for later this year. :)

We're looking at buying a car/camper van for the trip and may ask someone to sell it for us at the end of the trip. :) This isn't set yet, as it may work out cheaper to hire or something..

If you were a visitor to USA, where would you visit? We're thinking of zigzagging our way across from west to east or east to west and probably taking up to 5 - 6 weeks. Oh...and where WOULDN'T you go. ;)

Just a little excited about this. :D Never thought it would happen - but it's getting closer.

Can't wait to meet some of you.
