The sad thing is that if ever one of us actually does head to Nigeria in order to promote peace in West Africa and gets attacked by armed robbers and then e-mails members of this list for money instead of contacting his or her family members or embassy, the rest of us will think it a hoax and delete the message, unknowingly abandoning our colleague to a wretched life of begging on the streets of Lagos for enough money to buy a plane ticket home.
