I had a rough go of the college path as well, started off as a programmer but hated the massive Math work load they wanted. I switched over to networking using Cisco gear and was happy but was missing something. I want a BS but they did not have a BS in networking at the time, however they did change that from an Assoc to a BS while I was in the class and I would have been grandfathered in. I decided to pursue a degree path in what I really want and after a good year to year and a half I found Capella.
My guidelines for the next college was flexible so I could still work, have a BS in security, have continuing classes to a MS in IT with a goal of security, and be online so I don't have to waste time driving an hour to class for a 45 minute class and an hour home. I searched and search and found nothing, then a guy I worked with was talking to someone else and I over heard an online college name I had never heard of, asked him about it and began to search the site. called them the next day and got the info, then started asking around but not a ton of people (face to face I mean) knew of the college. I even think I did a thread on here asking about it but I may be mistaken. After some time I feel this will be the right fit! College is important and will always be in my opinion, however experience out weighs a piece of paper in my mind. The only issue I have ever ran into in my career is employers looking for people with certifications, and since I am horrible at taking exams these have been troublesome for me. At some point in your career you will need a good combination of college, certifications, and experience if you wish to advance; the key is to find that middle ground. - Robert iamnowonmai wrote: > Capella...
