I had to slow mine down to 32x after
losing so many discs to incomplete
burns. The guy I talked to at Radio
Shack told me that my computer is slow
and that the burner I have is better on
a faster system than on mine. When I
figured that the slower burn rate
resulted in more complete discs than the
faster rate, I felt better about it,
because I would hate to have to throw
out so many discs when making them. On
the faster burn, I was losing five discs
to every one. That's a pretty high
ratio. On the slower speed, it has cut
way down. It's clear I'll be needing a
more up-to-date computer, and will have
to buy a new one anyway.
