I am writing primarily to second what you just said. Whenever I install Total
Recorder, the
very first thing I do is to change to sound board rather than software
recording. I also go
into settings and check the boxes which say something like "use sound board
settings directly."
In fact, the only time I use software recording is when I want to record a
lengthy file in
accelerated mode.

I'm not sure why everyone recommends the software driver for total
recorder. I'm usng the sound board setting, with what you hear selected in
my recording properties, and I've never had a problem recording radio
streams, xmradio shows I play on xmpcr, sets of music played in ots dj, and
on and on. Good luck, but I didn't have to spend hardly a moment setting
up the program.
