I recently lost my DVD drive. It just wouldn't show up in my computer. I
used the trouble shooter to try fixing the problem but it didn't work. So I
plugged in the error message from device manager into Google and found help
that got it back. It involved removing two keys from the registry.

Now, I have my drive back but it will not record. It does not see
recordable media. I did another search and found a Microsoft article with a
work around involving the registry. This advice did not work.

I did back up my registry and the keys I altered. .

If anyone has come across this problem before and has a solution, I'd sure
be happy to hear about it.

By the way. The keys I had to remove were apparently put there by ITunes.
ITunes was preinstalled on this computer and I think the problem started
when I uninstalled ITunes. I'm not really sure exactly when the problem
started because I haven't used the DVD burner in a while.

Bob.
