You also have to think about the fact that it's a digital input, there's no
analog chords to deal with.

One major minus is that there's no what you hear or software mixer on any of
the ones I've seen so if you broadcast and you use what you hear, you'll
have to still use a regular soundcard.

1. It prevents the output of your speakers from being fed back into your
microphone. (The latest beta of skype claims to have eliminated this
problem. But I'm still using an older version.)
2. It shuts out distraction from other noise sources in your environment.
3. It allows you to separate the output from JAWS and from skype.
4. I'm sure others can come up with still more advantages.

  I know this is a stupid question, but what advantage, if any, is there to
a
  USB headset?
  By the way, I've recently installed Live Messenger and Skipe, so if anyone
  wants to add me, I'm at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and my Skipe name is
  guitarsue.

  Jana,

  Look for the following lines in your jfw.ini file:

  [Synthesizers]

  Synth1Name=eloq

  Synth1LongName=Eloquence Software

  Synth1Driver=eloq

  directly below these lines, you must add a line similar to the following:

  Synth1Port=C-Media Wave Device

    BUT, instead of C-Media Wave Device, you must substitute the exact name
of
  the sound card you wish JAWS/Eloquence to use. There must be no space on
  either side of the equals sign, and the spelling and case of the name of
the
  sound card you wish to use must be exactly the same as appears on the
Audio
  Devices page of the Sound and Audio Devices dialogue in Control Panel.

    After you have made this change to jfw.ini, exit and restart JAWS.
  eloquence will thence forward be forced to use the named sound card, even
if
  you have USB devices plugged in, which steal away the default output
device
  assignment.

    Good luck. Let me know off list if you have any difficulty folowing
these
  directions.

    Blessed Be,

    Hi, Dana! Actually, I'd love to know how to change the JFW.ini file
when
    you're using a USB head-set. I think that would be helpful to me in
some
    situations.  Thanks!
