as soon as you pop in the cd one of the options should be to rip using 
windows media player.

Btw, you don't rip in the itunes format, and the ipod won't handle wma. 
you'll have to rip in mp3.  there is an mp3 plugin for windows media player, 
but it's nt as good as the laim encoder.

I'd get something like cdex for ripping in mp3.
