My Zen Stone doesn't play while it's hooked up to the computer. You don't have to wait until it's fully charged before you start listening to it though! :-) I haven't timed how long it takes to charge, but the Creative Media Lite utility will give you the current charge on the Zen Stone, so you can monitor it's charging process with that utility.
