I understand the need to stay out of trouble with copyright laws but
learning the name of a song one is licensed to have doesn't seem illegal.

I agree with you 150%.
I believe what the message poster was asking was how to find the titles to
untitled tracks on his hard drive.
Some store bought CD's especially older CD's from the mid to late 1980's
don't rip properly.
You get the songs, but you don't get the info that goes with them.
All you get is unknown artist and unknown alvem.
And even after you open that folder, all you see is 01 track 1.wma or
whatever format it was ripped in.
CD's that were made after 1992 don't have this problem.
There were some 100 disc changers that would display all of the text on the
CD's in their LCD display windows.
I should add, there are still some CD players out there that will still
display the text on any CD you play in them.
I hope this helps us all to better understand what's going on here.
