Exactly! this has been mentioned on-list before and if you look
through the pc-audio archives you'll also see that I (and a couple of
others) have discussed EAC at length, I went so far as to say (then as
I do now) that Exact Audio Copy is the best CD ripping solution on the
planet because of its accuracy, flaxibility and configurability.
I've been using Exact Audio Copy for the past 5 years and I've
discussed aspects of my time with EAC and how I (along with others)
have evolved a CD library of Cue and Flac files, these pairs can be
both produced and used with Exact Audio Copy to produce some
astonishing feats and these keep getting more numurus as time goes on
so I'll summaries what cue and Flac file pairing allows me to do with
EAC at the present.
Firstly, I have over 10,000 CD'S formatted in this way. I have up
until this point kept them backed up on DVD discs with a simple text
file to catalogue all of them but as of tomorrow? Well, all this
content gets dumped on to a NAD (Networked Attached Drive), all my
computers over the network will have access to them.
Next, using EAC or other compatible software, I can use a pair of
files and convert the pair to MP3 or whatever tracks. Suppose for
example you had a pair of files called SuperTramp - Breakfast In
America.cue and .flac as a pair, you could use Exact Audio Copy to
have the MP3 tracks of the album produced. further to this, you could
make an exact CD copy using the file pair for your CD player.
Now of course, what I'm talking about here can't be done overnight, it
takes a bit of setting up and a few little extra tools make the job a
lot easier but if I and other people can do it and you want your music
at your fingertips then I certainly recommend you having a look at
this as other list members have done, actually got a note from one a
few days ago about what a difference this approach had made to both he
having accurate and error-free rips and music at his convenience.
