I sold my Dell with sigmatel because all recordings were muffled and it wasn't working with Skype or other programs. The Dell support teams admitted that sigmatel had a problem. The output is good, but input is very problematic. The web cam microphones sounded better than any of the external mics we tried, but they kept dropping out..
It was a shame I had to sell it, the xps was a light and fast machine... If you google the problem, you will see it mentioned as a known problem.
