MP3's contain one thing and one thing only--music in digital format. OK, I lied. They also contain something called "metadata" which is a list of predefined characteristics of the file being played--track name, track artist, album name, cover artist name, year published, performance genre, etc., etc., etc. Unfortunately, the spec only allows for one copy of this metadata, so the answer of whether or not you can split an MP3 into multiple tracks and display new metadata for each track is, unfortunatley, no. Ditto the answer of if an MP3 can be turned into a playlist. A playlist is simply a list of files to be played, one per line, in a standard ASCII text file with some special formatting for certain programs like Winamp and Station Playlist Studio to read for presentation at the time of performance playback.
