Where would the lyrics be displayed? The lyrics on a karaoke machine are a constantly moving display. Some software uses the old bouncing ball technique to show the singer what to sing when, some use coloring, some use changes in display fonts, etc. Looking at an iPod screen in a dark bar wouldn't work for nmost people.
