The transmitters we're talking about work on the standard broadcast band and 
will work with any FM receiver.
You will always get better quality running cables in theory because FM stereo 
is limited to 20 to 15000 hz.
However unless you're talking really high end audiophile stuff you wouldn't 
notice the difference.
Certainly the more expensive units will transmit a better sound and a cleaner 
signal as well.
