Steve . get a codec pack.
I installed the free K-Lite Mega Codec Pack on my computer and I can play
just about anything with WMP 10. I haven't tested with .aif files but I
think it will work.
Go to a secure software site like http://www.download.com and do a search
for codec. You can sort the results and read reviews.

Winamp doesn't. Windows Media doesn't. Sound Forge might, but that's
overkill. Ditto Sonar. Renaming them to .AIFF doesn't help. Anybody
