John:  Thanks; I'm not even sure that the sleep timer even figures into 
what's going on here; I just put that in to let everyone know what I had 
been doing at the time.  A friend of mine also had this experience (she left 
the power turned on)..then, the next day, it was almost "run down"..so it 
makes me a little curious as to what's going on as (according to the 
manual..as well as the description on the "power" button)..if the player is 
not in use, it's supposed to shut down to conserve power!  If this is not 
happening..no big deal..only users should be aware of what's happening (or 
not happening)..as it were..again..thanks, John for checking this out!
