try changing the soundcard for the windows default as well as what JAWS is
to use to the other card. then load jaws from the start menu item. this is
what I have done and it works on my system. I am using an internal
SoundBlaster Xfi platinum.

hi, the default card is the s.b. card anyway, and system sounds, media
players and so on behave as they should depending on which card i select as
the default card. it's just jaws that will not change.
