I received my Tivoli Audio Pal DAB+ radio this morning and I've had a play with
the set.

When it comes to portable DAB+ radios then this is about as good as it gets and
perhaps people will say it damn well ought to be at $300.00 but when it comes
to high end high quality audio products then you certainly get what you pay for
and a Tivoli radio isn't your ordinary supermarket radio.

The Pal DAB+ looks exactly like the iPal radio but the cabinet style and
speaker are the only things these radios have in common, controls are
completely different.

On the front of the Pal DAB+ is a massive display towards the top, 5 round
preset buttons underneath and the 2.5 inch speaker complets the front surface.

On the top of the radio is a jog-dial, whilst the radio is on turning this dial
adjusts the volume and for a portable radio the Pal DAB+ gives plenty of that.

If the jog-dial is pressed in the station list is shown, the user turns the
dial to select the station to tune and presses the dial in to tune it, tuning
time takes about half a second.

Storing a station into one of the 5 presets is easy enough, just hold down the
desired preset button for 5 seconds.

Powering off the radio is doen by holding down the jog-dial for 2 seconds, to
power on again press the jog-dial twice.

On the rear of the Pal DAB+ are 3 sockets and each is protected by a rubber
cover, the power socket, stereo headphones and aux-in sockets.

The radio comes with a most eligant remote controller which sits in a stand
with a rubber backing, just perfect for your coffee or bedside table.

I've not worked out all the buttons on the controller yet but figure I'll most
likely never want to use it given that the controls on the radio provide me
with enough control over its functionality as is.

Charging of the internal rechargeable battery pack takes around 3 hours and the
battery lasts for around 20 hours before charging is required.

a DAB model is available for those in Europe etc.

And finally, the radio also has an FM band but I haven't worked out how to
select this band as yet, all in good time <smile>. I'm very much looking
forward to tuning around on FM, if my Tivoli Audio iPal radio is any guide then
the FM band will be super, the FM band on the iPal is extremely sensitive and
selective and just as good as the Sangean PRD15 which is the best FM receiver I
possess.
